Inclusions: 

 

• The tour package includes all lodging, meals*, and access fees to reserves, parks, and other birding sites. 

• Premier Bird Guide: All of our tours use the services of an excellent bird guide, often a well-recognized expert on birding in this area. Most trips have two excellent local birding guides.

• Top-Rated Preparation Services: We support your preparation for the trip. We provide information on the birds you will see and all the travel details, including all logistic details (arrival plans, trip itinerary, lodging details, and more), information on entry into Ghana and information on travel health issues, packing information, and more. Most of our clients comment that our Trip Participation Guide is the best they have ever seen.

• Transport and Airport Transfers: 

  • Local ground transport is included. This includes a large transport van for most of the trip. 

  • We also have a driver or guide pick you up at the airport upon arrival, and we arrange for a transfer back to the airport at the end of the trip.  

• Acre for Bird Conservation: As part of our efforts to support bird conservation, we purchase in the name of customers (for each booking) at least one acre (but averaging between three and four acres) of wilderness to support bird conservation. As our trip prices are often 20% (and often even a better deal) less than our competition, this does not cost you more and it is a great way to support bird conservation around the world.

• Small Group Pricing: All the prices mentioned above are for tour groups of seven or eight participants. We will offer very reasonable small-group supplements once tours reach four or more participants. We are happy to provide pricing for private groups with fewer than seven participants.

 

Possible Additions to Basic Trip Pricing:

• We can access a variety of tours for Ghana, meeting a wide range of budgets. Generally, two additional days can be added or subtracted from our base price at a rate of about $340 USD* (or £270 GBP). Please let us know if you would like a longer or shorter (more affordable) birding tour to Ghana.

• You can upgrade your lodging in the Mole National Park area for $670 for several nights. The tour is priced using mid-range lodging (3.5 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor) in this area. We can book you at the Zaina Lodge (4.5 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor) if you so desire.

*Pricing Notes and More Details:

 

• US Dollar Pricing and Pricing in British Pounds: (1) Our 2025 (and late 2024) price estimates are mostly based on US Dollars; so, our GBP/British Pound pricing is based upon an exchange rate of .79 GBP (British Pound) per US Dollar (the exchange rate on March 19, 2024). (2) We will charge you the actual transaction rate here, but please note that we work to minimize transaction costs. Using Transferwise, we usually pay under one-half a percent (and sometimes less) on the actual exchange. (3) Due to costs related to UK travel regulations, our tours booked and paid through BlueTailBirding.com (for the UK and European clients) will cost 200 GBP more. • Bank Fees: We do not charge bank fees for wire transfers for clients paying into our accounts in the United States, the United Kingdom, and/or Canada.

• Note on Meal Inclusion: Meals include three meals per day during any full day of the trip. The arrival day does include meals to match your flight plans, so expect either lunch and/or dinner on the arrival day. The departure day includes only breakfast as most flights leave in the morning. 

• Note on Beverage Inclusion: Most of our meals are provided by the lodges, and we follow their practices in providing beverages at meal time. Most lodge-provided breakfasts include a choice of coffee, tea, and/or juice, and most box lunches include either bottled water or juice, or a soft drink, as is your choice. Other beverages served at supper are your choice and are an additional expense that you pay to the restaurant or lodge directly. We provide water at the table for supper.  We also provide bottled water during the birding day. 

• Group Size: We anticipate a group of 7 or 8 participants, and pricing is based on this group size.

 

Optional Costs for Booking the Trip:

• None expected.

 

Single Room Supplement:

• The single supplement for the 17 Day Trip is $780 USD (or £610 GBP*)

 

This is the price we charge for the additional cost of anyone not sharing a room with another birder (and/or a spouse). If you want a single room, please let us know. We are often able to find a roommate for those wanting to share a room with a person of the same sex.

 

Pre-Paid Tipping for Meals/Lodging: Add $95 USD (or about £70 GBP) to pre-pay these tips if in a shared room, or add $110 USD (or about £90 GBP) if in a single room on the main 17-day trip. We do present to you clear tipping recommendations if you want to do the tipping yourself. Most of our clients prefer to do the tipping themselves.

 

Notes on Other Tour Costs: Exclusions: 

• You will need to pay for any flight costs involved in this trip. 

  • This will include flights to Accra (the major airport in Ghana) from your home airport.

• The tour fee does not include taxes/fees for entering or exiting the country, telephone calls, laundry, and other items of a personal nature.

• Tips for birding guides and trip drivers are not included in the tour price.
