Ecuador’s Enchanted Islands

The Galápagos Islands by Land (Island Hopping) Pricing

2025 Trip Pricing: $5,290 US Dollars, or 4,170 GBP*

for 10 Days and 9 Nights

Inclusions:

  • The Tour package includes all lodging, breakfast, a few lunches, and access fees to reserves, parks, and other birding sites.

  • Premier Bird Guide: All of our tours use the services of an excellent bird guide, often a well-recognized expert on birding in this area. Lelis Navarrete is the most qualified leader for these tours.  Lelis wrote the Field Guide to the Galapagos Islands, covering birds, mammals, reptiles, fish, and other common wildlife.  He also wrote the Fieldbook of the Birds of Ecuador. He has led over twenty tours to the Galapagos Islands dating back twenty years.

  • Top-Rated Preparation Services: We support your preparation for the trip. We provide information on the birds you will see and all the travel details, including all logistic details (arrival plans, trip itinerary, lodging details, and more), information on entry into Ecuador information on travel health issues, packing information, and more. Most of our clients comment that our Trip Participation Guide is the best they have ever seen.

  • Transport and Airport Transfers

    • Local ground transport is included. On this tour, we use a combination of 4WD vehicles, vans, inter-island vans, and more. Inter-island flights are charged separately

    • We also include all airport transfers in Quito and in the Galapagos

  • Acre for Bird Conservation: As part of our efforts to support bird conservation, we purchase in the name of customers (for each booking) at least one acre (but averaging between three and four acres) of wilderness to support bird conservation. As our trip prices are often 20% (and often even a better deal) less than our competition, this does not cost you more and it is a great way to support bird conservation around the world.

  • Small-Group Pricing: All the prices mentioned above are for tour groups of seven or eight participants. We will offer a reasonable small group supplement once the tour group reaches four of five participants. We are happy to provide pricing for private groups of any size, which meets your group’s needs.

*Pricing Notes and More Details:

  • US Dollar Pricing: Ecuador does use US Dollars as their currency, and trip prices are fixed in US Dollars.

  • Pricing in British Pounds: (1) Our 2025 (and late 2024) price estimates are mostly based on US Dollars; so, our GBP/British Pound pricing is based upon an exchange rate of .79 GBP (British Pound) per US Dollar (the exchange rate on March 19, 2024). (2) We will charge you the actual transaction rate here, but please note that we work to minimize transaction costs. Using Transferwise, we usually pay under one-half a percent (and sometimes less) on the actual exchange. (3) Due to costs related to UK travel regulations, our tours booked and paid through BlueTailBirding.com (for the UK and European clients) will cost 200 GBP more. Please contact us anytime with questions.

  • Bank Fees: We do not charge bank fees for wire transfers for clients paying into our accounts in the United States, the United Kingdom, and/or Canada.

  • Note on Meal Inclusion: Meals include all breakfast as provided by the hotels, which we use on the tour. A few lunches are provided by the boat transport companies on a few occasions. You will need to pay for the rest of your meals. See exclusions below for a price estimate.

  • Note on Beverage Inclusion: Most of our meals are provided by the lodges, and we follow their practices in providing beverages at mealtimes. Breakfast usually includes coffee, tea, and/or juice (as provided by the lodge).

  • Group Size: We anticipate a group of 7 or 8 participants, and pricing is based on this group size.

Optional Costs for Booking the Trip:

Single Room Supplement: $860 USD (£680 GBP*) is the price we charge for the additional cost of anyone not sharing a room with another birder (and/or a spouse). If you want a single room, please let us know. We are able to find roommates for those wanting to share a room in many situations.

Notes on Other Tour Costs: Exclusions:

  • (1) You will need to pay your international flight cost to get from your home to Quito in Ecuador. (2) You will need to pay for your flight from Quito to the Galapagos Islands and return. We usually book these flights in the $400 to $600 range. We will charge actual costs.

  • The tour price does not include the Galapagos Park Fee and the tourist permit. In 2024, these two documents were $220 per person, and they are best paid when you arrive on the Galapagos Islands.

  • You will need to pay for 9 suppers and 7 lunches. Meal options vary greatly in Galapagos restaurants.  Most clients will pay as little as $350 for these meals, and other clients will pay over $500. Budget about $400 for these meals.

  • Tips for birding guides and transport providers are not included in the tour price.

  • The tour fee does not include taxes/fees for entering or exiting the country, telephone calls, laundry, and other items of a personal nature.
