Ecuador Amazon-Rio Napo Birding Extension

Come explore the legendary Amazon Rainforest, one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world. This trip will take you on a boat ride down the Napo River, to a lodge located deep in the jungle where you will be able to see hundreds of bird species along with a stunning amount of native plants, insects, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish.

More Details About this Trip:

The area around the lodge alone holds over 550 species of birds and adds boat rides to remote islands and Yasuni National Park. Tawny-bellied Screech-Owl, Wire-tailed Manakin, Blue-crowned Manakin, Common Potoo, Oriole Blackbird, Black Caracara, Orange-headed Tanager, Hoatzin, Variegated Tinamou, Lettered Aracari, Spix's Guan, Orange-cheeked Parrot, and American Pygmy Kingfisher are just a sampling of the birds you may see.

The local guide is very knowledgeable about the bird life in the area, as well as how to navigate and stay safe in the jungle. He will often have places staked out for difficult or interesting species and will bring you to good birding locations like the lodge's canopy tower. At least one night you will have the option to go on a night walk to look for owls and other nocturnal species.
