Inclusions: 

 

• The tour package includes all lodging, meals*, and access fees to reserves, parks, and other birding sites. 

• Premier Bird Guide: All of our tours use the services of an excellent bird guide, often a well-recognized expert on birding in this area. Our Cuba Essential Birding Tours are led by Arturo Kirkconnell, who is the author of the Field Guide to the Birds of Cuba and is widely recognized as the premier bird guide of Cuba. Each tour is also accompanied by an Audubon Society educator.

• Top-Rated Preparation Services: We support your preparation for the trip. We provide information on the birds you will see and all the travel details, including all logistic details (arrival plans, trip itinerary, lodging details, and more), information on entry into Cuba and information on travel health issues, packing information, and more. Most of our clients comment that our Trip Participation Guide is the best they have ever seen. 

• Transport and Airport Transfers: 

  • Local ground transport is included. This includes a large transport van for most of the trip.

  • We arrange transport to the hotel at the airport upon arrival, and we arrange for a transfer back to the airport at the end of the trip.

• Acre for Bird Conservation: As part of our efforts to support bird conservation, we purchase in the name of customers (for each booking) at least one acre (but averaging between three and four acres) of wilderness to support bird conservation. As our trip prices are often 20% (and often even a better deal) less than our competition, this does not really cost you more and it is a great way to support bird conservation around the world.

• Small Group Pricing:

  • We are happy to provide pricing for private groups with fewer than four participants. 

  • Our least expensive trip of 8 days and 7 nights does assume a group size of six to eight participants.

 

*Pricing Notes and More Details:

 

• US Dollar Pricing: The price is fixed in USD. There is intense demand for services related to tourism in Cuba. Once booked, we will honor our prices as invoiced. If you book late, there is a risk of price increases due to inflation in the Cuban tourism sector (lodges and fuel primarily).  

• British Pound Pricing: (1) Our 2024 (and late 2023) price estimates are mostly based on US Dollars; so, our GBP/British Pound pricing is based upon an exchange rate of .79 GBP (British Pound) per US Dollar (the exchange rate on May 8, 2023). (2) We will charge you the actual transaction rate here, but please note that we work to minimize transaction costs. Using Transferwise, we usually pay under one-half a percent (and sometimes less) on the actual exchange. (3) Due to costs related to UK travel regulations, our tours booked and paid through BlueTailBirding.com (for the UK and European clients) will cost 200 GBP more. • Bank Fees: We do not charge bank fees for wire transfers for clients paying into our accounts in the United States, the United Kingdom, and/or Canada. However, we do take currency exchange transaction fees into account (typically about 1.5%).

• Note on Meal Inclusion: Meals include three meals. Supper is included on the arrival day of the tour.  Breakfast is the only meal served on the departure day of the tour. Beverages at breakfast and lunch are included.  Supper includes water at the table and a soft drink. You must pay for any alcoholic beverages on the tour. 

• Note on Beverage Inclusion: Each day, we provide water for refilling your personal bottles during the birding day. 

• Group Size:

• We anticipate a group of 6 to 8 participants, and pricing is based on this group size.

 

Optional Costs for Booking the Trip:

 

Single Room Supplement: 

• The single supplement for our 8 Day/7 Night tour is $280 (or £210 GBP*).

• This is the price we charge for the additional cost of anyone not sharing a room with another birder (and/or a spouse). If you want a single room, please let us know. We are often able to find a roommate for those wanting to share a room with a person of the same sex.

 

Notes on Other Tour Costs: Exclusions: 

• You will need to pay for any flight costs involved in this trip. 

  o    This will include flights your flights to Cuba.

• The tour fee does not include taxes/fees for entering or exiting the country, telephone calls, laundry, and other items of a personal nature.

• The tour price does not include the price of any alcoholic beverages.

• Tips for birding guides, trip drivers, restaurant servers, or hotel staff are not included in the tour price. Tipping is much like that in the United States.
