Inclusions: 

 

• The Tour package includes all lodging, meals*, and access fees to reserves, parks, and other birding sites. 

• Premier Bird Guide: All of our tours use the services of an excellent bird guide, often a well-recognized expert on birding in this area. 

• Top-Rated Preparation Services: We support your preparation for the trip. We provide information on the birds you will see and all the travel details, including all logistical details (arrival plans, trip itinerary, lodging details, and more), information on entry into Colombia, and information on travel health issues, packing information, and more. Most of our clients comment that our Trip Participation Guide is the best they have ever seen. 

• Transport and Airport Transfers: 

         o Local ground transport is included. This includes a large transport van (and/or jeep as needed) for                    most of the trip.  
         o All airport transfers are included.  We will have a driver (with your name on a sign) pick you up at the              airport for your international flights coming into either Bogota (most clients) or Cali (a few clients). All             other transfers are included for the internal fights to Colombia and at the end of the tour. 

• Acre for Bird Conservation: As part of our efforts to support bird conservation, we purchase in the name of customers (for each booking) at least one acre (but averaging between three and four acres) of wilderness to support bird conservation. As our trip prices are often 20% (and often even a better deal) less than our competition, this does not cost you more and it is a great way to support bird conservation around the world.

• Small-Group Pricing: All the prices mentioned above are for tour groups of seven or eight participants.  We will offer reasonable small-group supplements for group sizes of 4 to 6.

• Private and Custom Group Pricing: We are glad to provide pricing for smaller groups (including couples) or custom groups.

*Pricing Notes and More Details:

 

• US Dollar Pricing: The Colombian Peso was relatively stable against the US Dollar for about 5 years through the middle of 2014. In the last 12 months, the Peso has been strengthening against the US Dollar. These 2027 prices are based on 3,450 Pesos per US Dollar. We may need to charge a currency supplement if the US Dollar continues to weaken against the Peso. If the US Dollar weakens significantly against the Peso, we do reserve the right to make price adjustments. We have only had to do this on 2 trips to Colombia in late 2011, when the Peso was particularly volatile.

• Pricing in British Pounds:  (1) Our 2027 (and late 2026) price estimates are mostly based on US Dollars, so our GBP/British Pound pricing is based upon an exchange rate of .75 GBP (British Pound) per US Dollar (the exchange rate average over the last year). (2) We will charge you the actual transaction rate here, but please note that we work to minimize transaction costs. Using Transferwise, we usually pay under one-half of a percent (and sometimes less) on the actual exchange. (3) Due to costs related to UK travel regulations, our tours booked and paid through BlueTailBirding.com (for the UK and European clients) include a surcharge of 100 GBP more. • Bank Fees: Though we work to minimize bank charges with banking in Canada and in the United Kingdom, banks do often charge about 1.5% for making the exchange.

• Note on Meal Inclusion: Meals include three meals per day during any full day of the trip. The arrival day does not have any meals, as most flights arrive after 7 PM. The departure day includes only breakfast, as most flights leave in the morning.

• Note on Beverage Inclusion: Most of our meals are provided by the lodges, and we follow their practices in providing beverages at mealtime. Breakfast usually includes coffee or tea and/or juice (as provided by the lodge), and box lunches include either bottled water or juice. Other beverages served at supper are your choice and are an additional expense that you pay to the restaurant directly. We provide water at the table for supper. We also provide bottled water during the birding day.

• Group Size: We anticipate a group of 7 or 8 participants, and pricing is based on this group size.     

 

Optional Costs for Booking the Trip:

Single Room Supplement: $820 USD or £620* for the Main Trip is the price we charge for the additional cost of anyone not sharing a room with another birder (and/or a spouse). If you want a single room, please let us know. We are often able to find a roommate for those who want to share a room.

• Santa Marta Extension: $410 USD or £310*

• Rogitama Extension: $360 USD or £270*

Notes on Other Tour Costs: Exclusions:  

• You will need to pay for your international flight to get from your local airport to Colombia. You will also need to pay for any internal flights while you are in Colombia, and these flights range from about $80 to $150 US Dollars per flight.

• The tour fee does not include taxes/fees for entering or exiting the country, telephone calls, laundry, and other items of a personal nature.
