Alaska Birding and Wildlife from Kenai Peninsula to Denali National Park

Every birder will always remember flying into Alaska for the first time, the seabirds and whales of Kenai Fjord, the mammals and scenery of Denali National Park (with great birding too) and, for those who add the trip extension, birding the tundra around Nome. This trip is unforgettable.

More details about this trip:

Our Alaska trips give you a wonderful feel for what the state has to offer. From incredibly-birdy Anchorage we go north to the boreal forests and tundra around Denali National Park. We then drive east towards the small town of Paxson, through some very beautiful countryside. We pass through Anchorage on our way south to Seward, where an all-day boat trip allows you to see thousands of nesting seabirds, plus watch glaciers calving into the sea.

Our highly recommended Nome Extension brings you to birds that cannot be found easily anywhere else in the USA. Three full days in Nome offer excellent opportunities to see Pacific Golden-Plover, Bristle-thighed Curlew, Bar-tailed Godwit, Red-necked Stint, Aleutian Tern, Bluethroat, Eastern Yellow Wagtail and White Wagtail. There is always the chance at some rarity, and you’re practically guaranteed to see herds of Musk Oxen. A visit here is always a highlight of everyone’s trip to the state.
