• Price does not include the internal flight to David usually between $110 - $140 round trip.

 

Inclusions: 

 

• The Tour package includes all lodging, meals*, and access fees to reserves, parks, and other birding sites. 

• Premier Bird Guide: All of our tours use the services of an excellent bird guide, often a well-recognized expert on birding in this area. Most trips have two excellent local birding guides.

• Top-Rated Preparation Services: We support your preparation for the trip. We provide information on the birds you will see and all the travel details, including all logistic details (arrival plans, trip itinerary, lodging details, and more), information on entry into Panamá, and information on travel health issues, packing information, and more. Most of our clients comment that our Trip Participation Guide is the best they have ever seen.  

• Transport and Airport Transfers: 

  • Local ground transport is included. This includes a large transport van for most of the trip and jeeps in some locations.

  • We also have a driver pick you up at the airport upon arrival, transfers for internal flights are included, and we arrange for a transfer back to the airport at the end of the trip.  

  • The cost of internal flights is not included.  We do book these flights for you, and we book these flights at the actual cost.

• Acre for Bird Conservation: As part of our efforts to support bird conservation, we purchase in the name of customers (for each booking) at least one acre (but averaging between three and four acres) of wilderness to support bird conservation. As our trip prices are often 20% (and often even a better deal) less than our competition, this does not really cost you more and it is a great way to support bird conservation around the world.

• Small-Group Pricing: prices for Main Tour (10 days and 9 nights) mentioned above are for tour groups of seven or eight participants. The price for Darien/Harpy Eagle Extension (4 days and 3 nights) mentioned above is for tour groups of six participants. We are happy to provide pricing for private groups with fewer than six participants.

 

*Pricing Notes and More Details:

 

• US Dollar Pricing (fixed): Trip prices are fixed in US Dollars.

• Pricing in British Pounds: (1) Our 2024 (and late 2023) price estimates are mostly based on US Dollars; so, our GBP/British Pound pricing is based upon an exchange rate of .79 GBP (British Pound) per US Dollar (the exchange rate on May 8, 2023). (2) We will charge you the actual transaction rate here, but please note that we work to minimize transaction costs. Using Transferwise, we usually pay under one-half a percent (and sometimes less) on the actual exchange. (3) Due to costs related to UK travel regulations, our tours booked and paid through BlueTailBirding.com (for the UK and European clients) will cost 200 GBP more. • Bank Fees: We do not charge bank fees for wire transfers for clients paying into our accounts in the United States, the United Kingdom, and/or Canada.

• Note on Meal Inclusion: Meals include three meals per day during any full day of the trip. The arrival day does include lunch and supper, as most flights arrive in the morning. The departure day includes only breakfast, as most flights leave in the morning.

• Note on Beverage Inclusion: The lodges provide Most of our meals, and we follow their practices in providing beverages at mealtime. Most beverages are your choice and are an additional expense that you pay to the restaurant directly. We provide water at the table for supper. We also provide bottled water during the birding day. 

• Group Size: We anticipate a group of 7 or 8 participants for the Main Tour and 6 for the Extension, and pricing is based on these group sizes.

 

Optional Costs for Booking the Trip:

 

Single Room Supplement:

• If you want a single room, please let us know.

• If you want to share a room, please let us know. We are often able to find a roommate for those wanting to share a room with a person of the same sex.

• $580 USD (or £460 GBP*) is the price we charge for the additional cost of anyone not sharing a room with another birder (and/or a spouse). 

• Deluxe accommodation option: $980 USD (or £780 GBP*) is the price we charge for the additional cost of anyone not sharing a room with another birder (and/or a spouse). 

• The single supplement on the extension is $150 USD (£120 GBP). 

 

Notes on Other Tour Costs: Exclusions: 

• You will need to pay for any flight costs involved in this trip. 

  • This will include flights to Panama City from your home airport.

  • The tour includes one flight from Albrook (an airport for domestic flights in the greater Panama City area) to the city of David (in Panama), and this flight is not included in the tour price. We will bill the actual flight cost here. We usually book these flights from $110 to $140 (£90 to £110 GBP), depending upon when you booked the tour. We will want to book the full group on the same flight, and we usually pay about $120 (£100 GBP) for this flight.

• The tour fee does not include taxes/fees for entering or exiting the country, telephone calls, laundry, and other items of a personal nature.

• Tips for birding guides are not included in the tour price.
