Madagascar Comprehensive Birding and Wildlife: Mega Birding Endemics, Lemurs, Chameleons and More Pricing

2017 Pricing: $5,250 US Dollars, or £4,080 GBP*

for 15 Days and 14 Nights

Note: 2016 Pricing: $5,100 US Dollars, or £3,970 GBP* for 15 Days and 14 Nights

Inclusions:

  • Tour package includes all lodging, meals* and access fees to reserves, parks and other birding sites.

  • Premier Bird Guide: All of our tours use the services of an excellent bird guide, often a well-recognized expert on birding in this area. Most trips have two excellent local birding guides.

  • Top-Rated Preparation ServicesWe support your preparation for the trip. We provide information on the birds you will see and all the travel details, including all logistic details (arrival plans, trip itinerary, lodging details and more), information on entry into Madagascar and information on travel health issues, packing information and more. Most of our clients comment that our Trip Participation Guide is the best they have ever seen.

  • Transport and Airport Transfers

    • Local ground transport is included. This includes a large transport van for most of the trip and jeeps in some locations.

    • We also have a driver or guide pick you up at the airport upon arrival, and transfers for internal flights are included, and we arrange for a transfer back to the airport at the end of the trip.

    • Flight cost for three internal flights is not included. See details below for flight cost estimate.

  • Acre for Bird Conservation: As part of our efforts to support bird conservation, we purchase in the name of customers (for each booking) at least one acre (but averaging between three and four acres) of wilderness to support bird conservation. As our trip prices are often 20% (and often even a better deal) less than our competition, this does not really cost you more and it is a great way to support bird conservation around the world.

  • Small Group Pricing: All the prices mentioned above are for tour groups of six to eight participants. We are happy to provide pricing for private groups with fewer than six participants.

*Pricing Notes and More Details:

  • Price Fixed in US Dollars: The trip price is fixed in US Dollars.  Due to the strenth of the US Dollar in recent years, most Madagascar lodges have been providing pricing in US Dollars.

  • Pricing in British Pounds: The GBP price indicated above is based on the June 30, 2016 exchange rate of 0.76 GBP per US Dollar. This was shortly after the UK voted to leave the EU. We will hope the British Pound strengthens against the US Dollar in the months ahead. The trip price is fixed in US Dollars, and the final charges for the trip will be based upon the actual exchange rates we pay. Though we work to minimize bank charges with banking in Canada and in the United Kingdom, banks do often charge about 1.5% to 2% for making the exchange.

  • Bank Fees: We do not charge bank fees for wire transfers for clients paying into our accounts in the United States, the United Kingdom and/or Canada.

  • Note on Meal Inclusion: Meals include three meals per day during any full day of the trip. The arrival day does include lunch and supper, as most flights arrive in the morning. The departure day includes only breakfast, as most flights leave in the morning.

  • Note on Beverage Inclusion: Most of our meals are provided by the lodges, and we follow their practices in providing beverages at meal time. Most beverages are your choice and are an additional expense which you pay to the restaurant directly. We provide water at the table for supper. We also provide bottled water during the birding day.

  • Group Size: We anticipate a group of 6 to 8 participants, and pricing is based upon this group size.

Optional Costs for Booking the Trip:

Single Room Supplement: $750 USD (or £590 GBP*) is the price we charge for the additional cost of anyone not sharing a room with another birder (and/or a spouse). If you want a single room, please let us know. We are often able to find a roommate for those wanting to share a room with a person of the same sex.

Tipping for Meals/Lodging: Gratuities for drivers, hotel staff, restaurant (and other meals) are included on this tour. However, this does not include your trip leader/bird guide. If, therefore, you feel that he/she has given you excellent service, it is entirely appropriate to tip him/her.

Notes on Other Tour Costs: Exclusions:

  • You will need to pay for any flight costs involved in this trip.

    • This will include flights to Antananarivo from your home airport.

    • Flight cost for three internal trip flights will total about $980 USD (about £745 GBP*). These flight costs are not included in the trip price. We book these flights at cost, and we will bill actual costs here. This includes flights from Tana to Tulear, Tulear to Fort Dauphin, and then Fort Dauphin back to Tana.

  • The tour fee does not include taxes/fees for entering or exiting the country, telephone calls, laundry and other items of a personal nature.

  • Tips for birding guides are not included in the tour price.
