Inclusions: 

 

• The Tour package includes all lodging, meals*, and access fees to reserves, parks, and other birding sites. 

• Premier Bird Guide: All of our tours use the services of an excellent bird guide, often a well-
  a recognized expert on birding in this area.

• Top-Rated Preparation Services: We support your preparation for the trip. We provide information on the birds you will see and all the travel details, including all logistic details (arrival plans, trip itinerary, lodging details, and more), information on entry into Kenya and information on travel health issues, packing information, and more. Most of our clients comment that our Trip Participation Guide is the best they have ever seen.

• Transport and Airport Transfers: Local ground (by vehicle) and fluvial (by boat) transport as described in the trip itinerary. We always have a driver or guide pick you up at the airport and take you to your first hotel.  

• Acre for Bird Conservation: As part of our efforts to support bird conservation, we purchase in the name of customers (for each booking) at least one acre (but averaging between three and four acres) of wilderness to support bird conservation. As our trip prices are often 20% (and often even a better deal) less than our competition, this does not really cost you more and it is a great way to support bird conservation around the world.

• Small-Group Pricing: All the above prices are for tour groups of six participants. We are happy to provide pricing for private groups with fewer than six participants.

 

Possible Additions to Basic Trip Pricing: Subtract $200 if you do the tour from January to June.

 

*Pricing Notes and More Details:

 

• US Dollar Pricing: The Kenyan currency, the Kenya Shilling, has been relatively stable against the US Dollar in the last few years (fluctuating around 100 Shillings per US Dollar). Because of this stability, lodges, vehicle rental, and other logistical costs are often priced in US Dollars. Thus, we use US Dollars as the currency for pricing this trip. Trip prices for 2024 for our trip to Kenya are fixed in US Dollars.

• Pricing in British Pounds: (1) Our 2024 (and late 2023) price estimates are mostly based on US Dollars; so, our GBP/British Pound pricing is based upon an exchange rate of .79 GBP (British Pound) per US Dollar (the exchange rate on May 8, 2023). (2) We will charge you the actual transaction rate here, but please note that we work to minimize transaction costs. Using Transferwise, we usually pay under one-half a percent (and sometimes less) on the actual exchange. (3) Due to costs related to UK travel regulations, our tours booked and paid through BlueTailBirding.com (for the UK and European clients) will cost 200 GBP more. Please contact us anytime with questions here.   

• Bank Fees: We do not charge bank fees for wire transfers for clients paying into our accounts in the United States, the United Kingdom, and/or Canada.

• Note on Meal Inclusion: Meals include three meals per day during any full day of the trip. The arrival day does have lunch and supper, as most flights arrive in the morning. The departure day includes only breakfast, as most flights leave in the morning.

• Note on Beverage Inclusion: Most of our meals are provided by the lodges, and we follow their practices in providing beverages at meal time. Most beverages are your choice and are an additional expense that you pay to the restaurant directly. We provide water at the table for supper. We also provide bottled water during the birding day. 

• Group Size: We anticipate a group of 6 participants, and pricing is based on this group size. The group size for Kenya Coastal Extension is 4 to 6 participants, and pricing is based on this group size.

 

Optional Costs for Booking the Trip:

 

Single Room Supplement:  

$1,280 USD (or £1,020 GBP*) for Main Trip

$410 USD (or £330 GBP*) for Kenya Coastal Extension

These are the prices we charge for the additional cost of anyone not sharing a room with another birder (and/or a spouse). If you want a single room, please let us know. We are often able to find a roommate for those wanting to share a room.

 

Pre-Paid Tipping for Meals/Lodging: Add $90 USD (or £70 GBP*) to pre-pay lodging and meal tips if you are sharing a room. Add $125 USD (or £100 GBP) to pre-pay tips if you are in a single room. We do present to you clear tipping recommendations if you want to do the tipping yourself. Most of our clients prefer to do the tipping themselves.

 

Notes on Other Tour Costs: Exclusions: 

 

• You will need to pay your international flight cost for getting from your local airport to Kenya (Nairobi in and Nairobi out). Most people traveling from the USA or Canada can reach Kenya for about $1,250 (give or take $200 depending upon airline and other airline pricing factors). Most people can reach Kenya from the UK or European countries for about £520 GBP (give or take £100 GBP depending upon the airline and other airline pricing factors).   

• Flights to Arusha from Kenya and/or Uganda range from $220 to $380 (or £180 to £300 GBP)

• The tour fee does not include taxes/fees for entering or exiting the country, telephone calls, laundry, and other items of a personal nature.

• Tips for birding guides and trip drivers are not included in the tour price.
