Inclusions: 

 

• The Tour package includes all lodging, meals*, and access fees to reserves, parks, and other birding sites. 

• Premier Bird Guide: All of our tours use the services of an excellent bird guide, often a well-recognized expert on birding in this area. Johnnie Kamugisha is the dean of Uganda birding guides and is popular with our clients.

• Top-Rated Preparation Services: We support your preparation for the trip. We provide information on the birds you will see and all the travel details, including all logistic details (arrival plans, trip itinerary, lodging details, and more), information on entry into Uganda and information on travel health issues, packing information, and more. Most of our clients comment that our Trip Participation Guide is the best they have ever seen. 

• Transport and Airport Transfers: 

  • Local ground transport is included. This includes a large transport safari-style vehicle for most of the trip. 

  • We also have a driver or guide pick you up at the airport upon arrival, and we arrange for a transfer back to the airport at the end of the trip.  

• Acre for Bird Conservation: As part of our efforts to support bird conservation, we purchase in the name of customers (for each booking) at least one acre (but averaging between three and four acres) of wilderness to support bird conservation. As our trip prices are often 20% (and often even a better deal) less than our competition, this does not really cost you more and it is a great way to support bird conservation around the world. 

• Small-Group Pricing: All the prices mentioned above are for tour groups of 6 participants. We are happy to provide pricing for private groups with fewer than six participants (including couples). We will offer a reasonable small group supplement to make tours "go" for three and four participants.

 

Possible Additions to Basic Trip Pricing:

• Tanzania Extension or other available. 

• Gorilla Trek Fee: As an option for one day of the trip, about half of our clients choose to pay another $700 for the Mountain Gorilla Trek (2023 price and may be higher in 2024). This is the national park service fee for this trek.

 

*Pricing Notes and More Details:

 

• US Dollar Pricing: The US Dollar is widely accepted in Uganda by lodges and other tour service providers. The tour price is fixed in US Dollars. 

• Pricing in British Pounds: our GBP/British Pound pricing is based upon an exchange rate of 1.31 US Dollars per British Pound (the exchange rate on March 8, 2022). (2) We will charge you the actual transaction rate here, but please note that we work to minimize transaction costs. Using Transferwise, we usually pay under one-half a percent (and sometimes less) on the actual exchange. (3) Due to costs related to UK travel regulations, our tours booked and paid through BlueTailBirding.com (for the UK and European clients) will cost 200 GBP more (and this price is reflected in our website pricing). Please contact us anytime with questions here.   

• Bank Fees: We do not charge bank fees for wire transfers for clients paying into our accounts in the United States, the United Kingdom, and/or Canada; however, we do take into account currency exchange transaction fees (often about 1.5%).

• Note on Meal Inclusion: Meals include three meals per day during any full day of the trip. No meals are included on the arrival day, as most flights get in after 9 PM. The departure day includes breakfast with the last evening in Entebbe/Kampala.

• Note on Beverage Inclusion: Most of our meals are provided by the lodges, and we follow their practices in providing beverages at meal time. Most beverages are your choice and are an additional expense that you pay to the restaurant directly. We provide water at the table for supper. We also provide bottled water during the birding day. 

• Group Size: Prices are based on six participants. If the group books 4 or 5 participants, we will offer a reasonable small group supplement. We are happy to price small custom tours (groups of 2 to 8), as well.

 

Optional Costs for Booking the Trip:

 

Single Room Supplement: Due to the high demand for eco-lodge rooms in Uganda, the single supplement for this trip is $1,090 to $1,490 USD (or £860 to £1170 GBP) (with further discounts possible, and please ask). This is the price we charge for the additional cost of anyone not sharing a room with another birder (and/or a spouse). If you want a single room, please let us know. We are often able to find a roommate for those wanting to share a room with a person of the same sex.

 

Pre-Paid Tipping for Meals/Lodging: Add $200 USD (or about £160 GBP*) to pre-pay these tips if in a shared room, or add $240 USD (or about £190 GBP) if in a single room on the main 18-day trip. We do present to you clear tipping recommendations if you want to do the tipping yourself. Most of our clients prefer to do the tipping themselves.

 

Notes on Other Tour Costs: Exclusions: 

• You will need to pay for any flight costs involved in this trip. 

  • This will include flights to Entebbe (the major airport in Uganda) from your home airport.

• Flights to Arusha from Kenya and/or Uganda range from $220 to $380 (or £180 to £300 GBP)

• The tour fee does not include taxes/fees for entering or exiting the country, telephone calls, laundry, and other items of a personal nature.

• Tips for birding guides and trip drivers are not included in the tour price.
