Colorado Grouse and More

Grouse are often elusive and unpredictable birds to find, but every spring a number of them gather together to display on lek sites, which gives birders a chance to see them in full display. On this trip we will visit leks of Greater Sage-Grouse, Sharp-tailed Grouse, Gunnison Sage-Grouse, Lesser Prairie-Chicken, and Greater Prairie-Chicken, and have chances to see White-tailed Ptarmigan and Dusky Grouse.

More details about this trip:

There are plenty of other birds to be seen as well, including Brown-capped Rosy-Finch, Black Rosy-Finch, Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch, Sage Thrasher, Brewer’s Sparrow, Pine Grosbeak, Red Crossbill, Evening Grosbeak, Cassin’s Finch, Mountain Plover, Thick-billed Longspur, Chestnut-collared Longspur, Loggerhead Shrike, Ferruginous Hawk, Burrowing owl, and maybe the secretive Boreal Owl.
