Inclusions: 

 

• The tour package includes all lodging, meals*, and access fees to reserves, parks, and other birding sites. 

• Premier Bird Guide: All of our tours use the services of an excellent bird guide, often a well-recognized expert on birding in this area. 

• Top-Rated Preparation Services: We support your preparation for the trip. We provide information on the birds you will see and all the travel details, including all logistic details (arrival plans, trip itinerary, lodging details, and more), information on entry into Ecuador and information on travel health issues, packing information, and more. Most of our clients comment that our Trip Participation Guide is the best they have ever seen. 

• Transport and Airport Transfers and Internal Flight: 

  • Local ground transport is included. 

  • We also have a driver or guide pick you up at the airport upon arrival, and we arrange for a transfer back to the airport at the end of the trip.  

  • This tour price includes the flight from Coca in the Amazon basin to Quito.

• Acre for Bird Conservation: As part of our efforts to support bird conservation, we purchase in the name of customers (for each booking) at least one acre (but averaging between three and four acres) of wilderness to support bird conservation. As our trip prices are often 20% (and often even a better deal) less than our competition, this does not really cost you more and it is a great way to support bird conservation around the world.

• Small Group Pricing: All the prices mentioned above are for tour groups of seven or eight participants. We are happy to provide pricing for private groups with fewer than seven participants.

 

Possible Additions to Basic Trip Pricing:

 

• With Lelis Navarrete as Lead Guide: Add $100 USD (£80 GBP*) to the basic trip price for the additional costs of using South America's top birding guide.  ​

• US Dollar Pricing: Ecuador does use US Dollars as their currency, and trip prices are fixed in US Dollars.

• Pricing in British Pounds: (1) Our 2024 (and late 2023) price estimates are mostly based on US Dollars; so, our GBP/British Pound pricing is based upon an exchange rate of .79 GBP (British Pound) per US Dollar (the exchange rate on May 8, 2023). (2) We will charge you the actual transaction rate here, but please note that we work to minimize transaction costs. Using Transferwise, we usually pay under one-half a percent (and sometimes less) on the actual exchange. (3) Due to costs related to UK travel regulations, our tours booked and paid through BlueTailBirding.com (for the UK and European clients) will cost 200 GBP more. Please contact us anytime with questions here.   

• Bank Fees: We do not charge bank fees for wire transfers for clients paying into our accounts in the United States, the United Kingdom, and/or Canada.

• Note on Meal Inclusion: Meals include three meals per day during any full day of the trip. The arrival day does not include any meals, as most flights arrive after 7 PM. The departure day includes only breakfast, as most flights leave in the morning.

• Note on Beverage Inclusion: Most of our meals are provided by the lodges, and we follow their practices in providing beverages at meal time. Breakfast usually includes coffee or tea and/or juice (as provided by the lodge), and box lunches include either bottled water or juice. Other beverages served at supper are your choice and are an additional expense that you pay to the restaurant directly. We provide water at the table for supper. We also provide bottled water during the birding day.

• Group Size: We anticipate a group of 7 or 8 participants, and pricing is based on this group size.     

 

Optional Costs for Booking the Trip:

 

Single Room Supplement: $815 USD (£650 GBP*) is the price we charge for the additional cost of anyone not sharing a room with another birder (and/or a spouse). If you want a single room, please let us know. We are able to find roommates for those wanting to share a room in many situations.  Most of this cost comes from the lodges in the Amazon basin.

 

Pre-Paid Tipping for Meals/Lodging: Add $100 USD (£80 GBP*) to pre-pay these tips if in a shared room, or add $120 USD (£100 GBP*) if in a single room. We do present to you clear tipping recommendations if you want to do the tipping yourself. Most of our clients prefer to do the tipping themselves.

 

Notes on Other Tour Costs: Exclusions: 

• You will need to pay your international flight cost for getting from your home to Quito in Ecuador. Most people traveling from the USA or Canada can reach Ecuador for about $800 (give or take $200 depending upon airline and other airline pricing factors). Most people can reach Ecuador from the UK or European countries for about £700 GBP (give or take £150 GBP) or €800 euros (give or take €150 euros depending upon airline and other airline pricing factors).   

• The tour fee does not include taxes/fees for entering or exiting the country, telephone calls, laundry, and other items of a personal nature.

• Tips for birding guides and trip drivers are not included in the tour price.
